You can try the air hole again but instead of trying to pierce the egg make a tiny scratch (2-3mm). Just keep gently scratching over and over the same spot. Gradually applying more pressure as you go and eventually it'll go through. It won't take nearly as much force as piercing the egg. Screws are usually super sharp at the tip.

I've never tried this for safety holes but I did it recently on an egg I wanted to blow out and save. Worked well.

What day is it for the egg?

You'll have to decide which way you want error. I no longer go into eggs unless they've first pipped. But many people do. Hopefully they'll pipe up with their expertise.

At this point what have you got to lose...Egg late ...No movement..
Just be very careful You never know...:fl

This is the way I feel. I know a lot of people don't recommend helping an egg and for good reason.. Sometimes.

My theory is this.. If they're not going to hatch on their own and are going to die anyway why not?? Truly what have you got to lose?? After hatching hundreds of eggs I don't think twice about helping one out. Have I had to cull them after I helped them?? Yes I have. Have I had luck with them surviving and being perfectly normal? Yes I have.

It's either a win/win or a lose/lose situation. But at least I know that I gave them a chance.

I wish you luck on them hatching!!

Wise words. Thank you for sharing. It's the culling that gets me. I'm not strong enough to do it. I'd rather they pass away in their shell. I see their "chance" as going into the incubator instead of an omelet.
