May hatch-a-long

No. We picked up our chicks soon after they hatched with no problem. Just make sure you keep them under her. Also, be very careful when looking for them. They really hide in her feathers. My hen can be standing and they will still be in her feathers, lol. I read another post where someone accidentally crushed a chick because they were looking for them and picked up the hen not realizing the chick was hiding in her wing. I'm happy you finally got one.... :clap
thanks

That one is about 3 days younger than the others. So right now it is in the brooder but separated from the others.

For the moment the light is out and the baby is snuggling with some of the others.

In a little while I will trade the bulb for one that doesn't have as high a wattage.

I had let the little one in with the others earlier. So far, all is well. And if has been about 4 hours at this point.

Hi, one time I incubated some eggs when my Jersey Giant hen went Broody and we only wanted hens but I know that it doesn't go perfect so we picked 6 eggs out for her to incubate and after a few weeks we went out there and there was a new little Brahma and New Hampshire red mix "she" was so pretty after we looked at her for awhile we had to go run errands and when we got back there was another chick and she was very weak she could barely peck a hole in the egg shell so me and my expert chicken sister helped her out of the egg and the healthy chicks name was Pippa and the weak ones name was Banana we soon went on a vacation and when we got back one of the eggs that didn't hatch hatched but the mom didn't except her so she was wet and dead :hitand a week after Banana hatched we went out there and (The jersey giant had a leg problem which made her not feel it) we found Banana underneath the bad leg of the mama and she had been strangled and she was laying there dead. And when Pippa grew up "she" turned out to be a Rooster he was so pretty!
