Now you have me wondering whether I can find a space in the menagerie for a couple of ducks lol

Well, all was quiet on the egg front when I got back from my day out, but I have just checked before going to bed and it looks as if at least 1 egg has pipped!! I'm so excited, I'm not sure I will get much sleep! Will post update in morning

Ahah there so fun to watch : and two chicks hatched this morning one had almost shrink wrapped the membrane was like rubber and it was stuck to it, Think I pulled some hairs out but it's is fine now, I don't know why it would of shrink wrapped humidity was at around 65% ohhh well it's fine now and I think 3 have pipped Maybe More not sure let u know

I'm so thrilled for you....at this rate you're going to have to sacrifice another pair of boxers lol

I'm afraid my excitement was a bit short-lived... I raced down to the coop this morning to check the broody and she is still sitting on 8 eggs with no obvious pips. I think what I thought was a pip last night, in the dark, with a torch, must have just been a shadow

Ah well... today is officially 21 so you never know, although I'm not holding out a lot of hope. If nothing has happened by tomorrow I'll candle them.

we went into lock down yesterday morning. i was having a bugger of a time keeping the humidity up! i have all the trays filled, cut a water bottle in half and trimmed it to fit under the hardware cloth, put cut up sponges in it and filled it with water, added a tall bowl of water on top... and couldnt get it about 40%. I finally added a couple strips of soaked cloth.. that seemed to help. But i will say.. that i do not like this LG incubator! I only use it for hatching and for a whole day the temps where perfect, but the eggs in yesterday.. perfect... until about 4:30. my daughter and I left to get groceries, and looked.. still good... got home 104!!! what the?! it couldnt have been that long, i turned it down and opened the lid a little to let some heat out.. and added more water. It did that last year too, and we figured it was hot in the room or something, but now I have the other one still running and the temps were fine in there...

gah!! i hope they are ok! temps and humidity were right on when i left this morning, so i hoping it was just a fluke..

ahahah I know I got a text saying another 6 had hatched and a few now have pipped and hopefully urs will be okay good luck

We have a chick!!

When I got home I was fully expecting to find all the eggs as they were when I left for work, but when I lifted Gladys for a peek, there was a little chick! I think it can only just have hatched as it wasn't properly fluffed up and not sure who was more startled, the chick, the hen or me! I have left them to it now and will check again in the morning, but am a proud Grandhen
