Lock down is starting tonight!
I'm so excited I candled last night(yeah, I know. My bad) and all the ones I marked alive are still kicking! Gonna take out all the clears and hope for the best.

Congrats to all those who have chicks! Please post pictures.

The other two pips are out. Just one left...I think it has a pip but it has a chicken sitting on it so I can't really tell. I am feeling very very blessed after the double power outage day 21!

There's one in the batch that just hatched that could be Japanese bantam /buff orpington. It's smaller than the others and doesn't have the stripes down its back but the others do.

I put a baby monitor next to the nest. I'm hearing what sounds like the hen turning the eggs. And best of all I just heard a tiny peep! I'm soo excited!

Still air, no fans. Put the beads in tonight. Will check temps periodically tomorrow. I have two accurate thermometers through the small holes in the lid, different corners from eachother, probes are at "egg" height. I have all the time in the world to let it settle as I dont need the incubator right away. We shall see how it goes.

Okay. I just candled and put it into lock down.

8 clears. 2 legbar, 6 OE. I bought them knowing that the fertility may be low.
6 alive. 1 legbar, 5 OE.
Then there are 2 OE that I put in but I'm not sure about. Candling from the top I can see a embryo/future chick, but at the bottom there is a bunch of empty space. The eggs are a little larger, are they dead? Or double yolks that one failed?

Hoping for mostly/all pullets.
I may need to get more hatching eggs and do another batch of a few different breeds.

Having humidity issues, hatching not going smoothly but we have 9/24 out, with a little help from me.
