Welcome! How many eggs and what breed/mix? Let's hope they hatch earlier, that's always a nice suprise. Rarely happens to me though, haha

I don't know the breeds. I don't have any drakes, so I just bought a dozen eggs from someone who did.
Yeah, they are developing way faster than usual, and every broody I've ever had have hatched their eggs early.

HI, First, do you have any other s pipping in the incubator. if so it is not good to open it. Can cause big problems for hem.
If there are no pips you could quickly reach in and grab the chick.
I rinse them under warm...body temp. water. I just gently hold them in the water keeping the head safe...............After I use a hairdryer to fluff them up. Just barely let the air ( set on low).dry the feathers..............then return to the incubator.
The cause is likely to high of humidity.....................

yes you can gently clean him off with a clean paper towel and place him back in the bator to dry Move quickly to get him back in

I know this photo is totaly unrelated but as i was moving photos of my morning hatch around my computer i found this one from last year this lil dude had a lot of sand for a Banty roo just before he took over ownership of my Harley he just put the smack down on a cochin roo four times his size i call

this one Biker Banty

It's been a good half to the month Jim how are the quail eggs doin ?

Quail eggs I do a bit different than chicken eggs. I have never been great at candling them, so I basically just put them in the incubator and walk off. Then on day 15 put them in lock down. Then listen for the racket. Once they hatch it is just a matter of catching the little explosive devils and putting them in the brooder

CRiISIS IN COSTA RICA ,,,,,,, well the Broodys are moving along well we we have five for nine and a EE zipper under broody #1 BUT sometime yesterday one of the kids collecting eggs inadvertently took the clutch of my Silkie who was down from the hen house for food and water apparently ,,,,,at 7 am the wife went down to check on broody #1 and seen the traumatized behavior of the lil Silkie and immediately came in and said to me Houston we have problem lol so we took the carton into the bator room for emergency candling and quickly found here half developed clutch among the 18 eggs in the carton we set them in our second bator that is about half full for emergency warm up as I candle the now cool eggs I was surprised to see slow movement in a few I think they were reacting to the warmth of the light , I have not seen this before it was interesting to see movement as far as I can tell they were cooled for about 16 hours so we will see in a day or two what the out come will be with her lil clutch in the ER bator lol my wife was heartbroken to discover this but I can hardly blame the kids as I have over 40 hens laying daily so it's kinda a daily eggathon here I feel bad for the lil hen she is such a good lil mom and was due to hatch around the 16-17 th but there are two more Broodys and over 60 in the bators so we will still be able to give her a few to brood to make her happy ,,,,,, lol

Just be glad you found out about the mix up before your next boiled egg!
