I am setting shipped SLW's in a few days.......................had them before and found them to be really nice hens.

Off topic, but I have been wanting to tell you that DH and I are owned by great danes also. We had 5 at one time some years ago.
Have one big boy left, NIkki.......My husband has Parkinson disease and has a hard time with movement and balance.I probably do not even have to
tell you about the bond between he and my dh...........Getting out of bed is one of the activities difficult for DH. .Nikki stands beside the bed and lets my husband use his back to balance getting up............or will walk beside him and stop, letting my husband use his back it catch himself if he starts to
fall..............it is a sight to see.....................and Nikki just knows instinctivly how to help.

hi! i'd like to join in! I am on day 13 of my first hatch ever! We candled last night, and after a scare, when I came home from work last week and the temp was 103, we had 20 egg with chicks moving!! 5 I culled and there are still 6 that are possible quitters, but I have been so nervous! Sunday I will move these to the hacting bator, and have babies on wed! *fingers crossed*!! 14 -BLRW (shipped.)..(4 culled,- 2 infertile, 2 quitter.... 2 more possible quitters...) 17 -mixed buff orpinton, maran hens...with a SLW roo! .. (1 culled, 4 possible quitters) I cant wait!! and we are almost done with the shed remodel/coop addition!

to the May hatch...............
Good Luck with your hatch .and keep us posted.........................

Question;
Another of my hens just went broody. I have some eggs in the incubator with 10 days left to hatch. I will wait a few days to see if she is serious, but if I slip one under her, would the timing be close enough to convince her she did her job? I think I would slip it under her about the same time the rest go into lockdown. What do you think?

OK how can we both have the same hatching day and you already have one out and one zipping??? LOL
I can shine a light on mine and see inside air cell, not even an internal pip here!

BUT I am soooooo happy for you!!!!

. Welcome

Just candled the 13 that I have set to hatch on the 30th. They looked great. I could see movement in all but one - it was a really dark egg though but the air cell looked good and there were no visible signs of blood rings or spots - so I'm gonna leave it - the "dark spot" looks to be keeping up with the other eggs in formation.
