Yeah.

I've always wondered that too... If they do, mine probably doesn't because, she was sitting on infertile eggs for the first two weeks atleast, then I finally got some fertile eggs to lay on.

Oh, and should melt it? Or is there something else I can do to get it to stick?

Finally figured out who goes where for when, with all my hatches coming its a little frustrating. But have em sorted. Moved my eggs soon to be lock down into hatching bator, with wire seperation for breeds. I only did this because my BA and SL both come out looking like the other unless I get male SL. I didn't last hatch and I have 20 IDK lol. Anyway I worked it out this time. 12 BA 6 BAxWLH 9 Black SL and 5 SLCxProduction Red/BO's . Pulled 1 infertile. Did a 7 day awhile back and oops kick myself I tossed 7 fertiles. My eyes are not perfect and I shoulda waited and did @ 10. Oh well. Lesson learned.
These will begin lockdown Tues. I have no fertility issues with my eggs. Breeder eggs on the other hand

, and then some. And wasn't all shipped eggs but I got a load of crap from 2 breeders. I am now in the my egg only stage. I'll get breeder birds if I want something else or just buy chicks. This last 2 weeks has been grinding my nerves bad, over these breeder eggs.

If you can think of a way for a hatching egg to be bad, I have it. Pecked, cracked, double yolker, failed repairs (Which also seep) dirty, washed the outer protection off. I mean WHAT are they THINKING. Unless they wanna stay the ONLY breeder cuz they selling crap eggs. And EBAY's Power seller BS won't let you neg/neutral anyone for a week. By then they have 10 more bogus perfect claims. Man sometimes the easy way to go sucks big time. And CL has no reveiws...... sigh. Oh well have my eggs and my birds I can count on at least.

That's it, I am heading to bed. 21 new quail and they are not due to hatch until tomorrow. 29 eggs left to hatch. My goal was to end up with 9-12 hens and 3 males so I may make it!

*Update*

Just candled my broody's eggs. 7 of the eight are doing great. Although, one of them has a crack in the top, but the chick is still alive. I don't know what I should do. Should I just put tape over it and leave it be? or should I take it and put it my hatcher so that I can assist if needed?

Melt some wax onto the cracked part, it will be ok till hatching if you do this.

you go acre we here ya , I just drove 400 miles and flew another 6000 just to set 18 infertile Sussex eggs , every darn one looked like a sponge when candled I have no idea what you can feed a bird to make such poor shell structure and then sell them for hatching eggs , now I'm not going to bash the breeder not just yet as the flock was just turned out after winter lock down but I explained to them my situation and told them I would be flying to costa rica and needed the best quality eggs for the trip and was willing to pay premium and drive to pick them up as I did not want to ship them because I needed the best shot at hatching a trio out of 18 well needless to say by looking at the eggs the birds nutrition was difeciant and their was only one roo covering many hens or from what I seen no roo at all ,,,, no look I'm on a rant lol

I use that Sally henson just for nails clear nail harderner on cracks work great I think that's the name of it ?
