May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

how do you have different lock down dates. do you have different incubators and what are the riw and rir or the riw. lol i am new at this and would love to learn these things

Yes, I have a few bators. Good thing ey? lol...RIR..Rhode Island Red. RIW...Rhode Island White. Great egg layers. I like the difference in color. They won't all be Red! The whites lay just as well. Very pretty. Will look for a photo.

Since my only egg in my incubator was a quitter at day 16, I decided to buy some chicks. (2 brown leghorn & 2 buff orp.) I thought id share this pic cuz the way they sleep sometimes is so darn cute! Apparently the thermometer is really comfortable.

Thank you for sharing that picture, it is amazing the positions some of them find to sleep in.
Then when you wake them they can pop right up and run around.
If I slept in some of those positions, it would be a half a day before I could walk right

*Update*

Just candled my broody's eggs. 7 of the eight are doing great. Although, one of them has a crack in the top, but the chick is still alive. I don't know what I should do. Should I just put tape over it and leave it be? or should I take it and put it my hatcher so that I can assist if needed?

Lockdown was last night for me. I am somewhat apprehensive, but excited too. Seems I have what look to be 5 good eggs, so I am nervously checking the incubator to make sure the temp and humidity are correct. Going to be a long weekend!

I know someone else had a hatch day of Memorial Day, also. But I haven't seen any posts from them lately. Hopefully everything is okay with them.
