May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

I am so bummed!!! Lost one of the baby chicks at about 28 hrs. old. She seemed a little weaker than the other one, but don't know why. None of the other 11 hatched. Out of those, 3 had fully formed, but must have given up in the end. I must be doing something wrong!! I kept daily records of temp and humidity. Any suggestions?

The one remaining one seems to be doing good. I put a little ceramic hen salt shaker in with her and she snuzzles up to it. Also put some wooden eggs. I don't want her to die of loneliness! More eggs coming tomorrow, so if this one doesn't work - I'm done. Too expensive and heart breaking.

That totaly sux Sally , sometimes they just die I usually have one or two not make it after I put them in the brooder I don't know why every thing is where it needs to be but they just don't make it ?

Sorry you had to experience the loss......................

I lost one last night.........cannot find a reason.it was fine........I was feeding and getting clean water..
When I finished it was dead..............no pasty butt.no overcrowding....................

Wishing you better luck with your next hatch..............
Also...........a soft rag is comforting for the one left...some folks use a feather duster.
Feels like Mom to them.

My final hatch for May comming up!! Getting "egg"-cited - LOL - (sorry, couldn't help myself). Started with 13 eggs - 13 eggs made it to lock down - Hatch Day "should" be the 30th - but last ones hatched a day and half early so we shall see!!

How do you stand the anticipation?!?!
Tomorrow is hatch day for me. All 5 eggs in lockdown are rocking and rolling, and I can hear some pecking but no peeping, No pips to be seen yet! I am so worried because 2/5 have saddle air cells, and all 5 were detached air cells when I got them. I know there is nothing I can do at this stage if there is trouble in there, but I hope I get some chicks!!!

Mine are due tomorrow as well. I had 3 rocking last night, only one is now, and it has pipped and is cheeping!! Go baby go!

Yay Molly! Did you hear any peeping before you could see the pip?
I guess most people do, as soon as the chick internally pips into the air sac. I am guessing I have quite awhile to wait since my bator is quiet (other than the occasional tap tap tap that gets my heart going every time!). Good luck with the rest of the hatch!
Should I say break an egg instead of break a leg?

I wasn't home so I'm not sure.. I do have another that just pipped and it is peeping now, it wasn't before! Thanks! I won't be able to sleep! I took Thursday and Friday off work too, since tomorrow is day 21!! Ahh!! I can't hear any tapping.

Only two more were born - Americauna and Frizzle crosses. The remaining five (pure Silkies, a Jersey Giant a few other crosses) didn't make it. The Americauna and Frizzles are a beautiful white.

so i have 5 out of my eleven eggs hatch yesturday. the other six are just laying there. i dont know if i should wait or give it a quits. help guys it looks like it has something in there. but no movements. what should i do
