May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

I just put
9 silver pencil rock
6 partridge rocks
15 buff brahmas- banties
Yesterday... Now the wait begins...

Good luck everyone

I'm setting 20 hedemora eggs next week, and I have a handful of eggs from my own chickens (bantam cochin mix and buff orpingtons) due in the very beginning of May. Looking forward to join you all - happy hatching!

Aww! So I checked the forum and didn't have any replies so I transferred my eggs to the turner before I'd gotten any responses (my 1st time and wanted hubby to help). I chose three porous, kinda dirty, older than ten day eggs. REALLY wish I'd waited...cracked open all three and two were fertile and I couldn't see anything in the third. Learned my lesson ...if I ask a question, I should wait for answers!

However, after seeing the two fertile eggs, I now feel better about condition of the other 42 in the bator.

One other question...is just because I'm new to this or does everyone feel the need to check on their eggs continually? I can't seem to stop looking through the windows!

I check every couple of hours... I don't want temp to spike. Other than that I wait until its time to candle... I know it's hard... Lol

Oh, too bad for the 3 eggs. Live and learn right?

Yes! I feel the need to either candle, check through the window, look at them or all of the above...I can admit it on backyard chickens forums only

I had 15 eggs hatch a little over a week ago and I decided I had to put more eggs in. So I have 24 eggs in the incubator due may11. Also have a broody hen laying on about 25 eggs, but I dont keep track of when they will hatch, because I just let my broodys due there thing and dont worry about anything. All of my eggs are mixes.

Me too! But not telling anyone outside of BYC. Lol.

My husband thinks I've lost my mind :/ . I've got three thermometers set up and keep checking them. I'm torn between candling and making sure my temp and humidity don't change. I'm being good though and keeping the readings level is winning out... So far.
