So, the chick I thought was my mystery chick, it think is one of my three barred rocks who is taking a little longer to grow her feathers in. I was wondering why I had one barred rock with a lot more barring on her, and today I noticed her comb. The others are starting to grow little single combs, and hers looks like it is coming in as a rose comb, which would most likely make her a Dominique right? Let me know what you think. I didn't have a pic of just her, but there is a good shot of her face in this pic I was taking of one of my EEers. They are 4 weeks old in the pic...

It certainly looks exactly like my dominiques did at that age. I don't know much about chicken genetics, so I'm not sure if you could ever get a barred mutt chicken with a rose comb. Assuming it's not one of those, it certainly looks like a dominique to me (and I raised 6 from day olds).

Don't know if it helps, but I have a barred mutt chicken with a rose comb. Looks a lot like yours. Daddy was either a white rock or a blue orp, and the mamas were prob. silver-laced wyandottes. Not sure, because there were a lot of laying hen breeds in the pen with those roos.

These are 2 weeks old - that's the boy on the left - lighter color - the girl has a dark wash on legs. The combs on the boys get pink sooner as well - like yours. He's cute as can be!
