May Online Hatching Egg Swap-Eggs should be sent

Has anyone candled the eggs I sent to them? Remember, they take 28 days...

yup. 2 were crunched in shipping, 2 clear (internally scrambled when i opened to look) and 2 were growing, but 1 quit early on. the last is still going tho.

it's due june 22. so we're half way there.

The last bunch I got all looked clear when I candled. I left them under the broody hen just in case.

I had 5 out of 7 guinea keets hatch. I have 1 more set from the may swap. They're due this coming week. The chicks I got some are pearl and some look peral but have white on the wing tips. any ideas. I'm guessing pearl and white mixed. I have no idea who sent them and they very well could have came from the FB swap. I don't remember.

Did anyone else get turkey eggs (maybe from someone else) that didn't do well with shipping? Is it common for eggs to get ruined, other than cracking, during shipping?? That is not good to hear!!!! Just wondering if it's all eggs or if some breeds are more delicate than others?!

The eggs I got from you went in the incubator May 29. I've candled but I have a hard time with turkey eggs.

My record with turkey eggs is:
12 Royal Palm from Colorado through a Yahoo! Swap group all clear and they have near 100% hatch ther
1 crossbred from Florida with duck eggs through the Facebook swap. All ducks developed. The turkey did not.
5 turkey (cross and Bourban Red) gifted to me from Penn through BYC. 3 clears and 2 quitters.
7 turkey from a side swap on BYC, RP, and cross. 1 clear, 2 to lockdown (1 quit the other I needed to help and it was deformed) and the rest quitters.
RP from Babymakes6 (I think she sent 8 or so.) I had 1 clear and 2 quit. They went in May 24.

So, I've had major problems with turkey eggs this year. All I want is a few more hens for my RP tom. The Standard Bronze hen in with him is 6 years old and hardly lays. The tom is a little over 1 year old.

I've never had any luck with turkey eggs either. I've only tried to hatch shipped eggs. Now that I've gotten adult turkeys I haven't tried to hatch any yet. The couple I got them from has been hatching them like crazy. I'm just hoping a hen will go broody.

i think typically larger eggs tend to suffer more than small ones... if you think about the physics involved in it, the larger the mass the more momentum it's able to build up when it moves rapidly in one direction or another. such as the box being dropped. the shell is very strong and can sustain a lot of force, so the inner membranes and yolk take more damage.

i feed the dogs raw quail eggs. i simply toss them the egg and they catch it or they don't. the ones that aren't caught land on the floor but only rarely crack (most actually bounce). try that same toss with a chicken egg, and it's more likely to break. try that with a turkey egg and it splatters all over the place (NOT good for the carpeting either). same distance same landing, much different results. that's why quail guinea and chicken eggs have a better time of shipping typically than say a turkey or goose egg...
