Hi there, last week I noticed one of my chickens had watery dark brown poop that shot out like a canon. Then two days later two of them were having this. Then they both got lethargic and laying around, pale dry combs and wattles. tails are down, and their wings look droopy. They seem so sad. They are only 6 months old so it can’t be molting, can it?

I gave them electrolytes when I noticed this and stopped giving them spinach. I would give them it as a treat every other day but haven’t since researching about this.

yesterday I gave them safeguard dewormer. Wondering how quick it works if it IS in fact worms. Today they are still laying down, wobbly walking, good thing is, they still eat and drink. I added ACV yesterday to their water also.

one has a ball in her crop my son said it feels hard not soft. They don’t have diarrhea and haven’t had it since last week. They are isolated.

they are usually free range (before I isolated them) so they have access to all kinds of greenery. Oh and my son checked under the wings for mites and what not and didn’t see anything.

Can you separate the two hens with issues? First thing in the morning, BEFORE they've had access to food, check their crops. If their crops are fine, they'll be empty, and you can rule out a crop issue. If their crops are full, make sure to note how full, and what they feel like- hard, squishy, doughy, and report back.

Is it just the 2 and you have others that are fine?

Did you only de-worm those 2 pullets? What dose of Safeguard did you give?

Any chance they ate something moldy, rotten, dead, toxic (fertilizer, spilled oil, weed killer, etc.)?
How much ACV and what type did you add to their water?

Any changes in brand of feed, a new bag of feed, bedding, any new members to the flock - anything you can think of that is different in environment/food, etc.?

Have they started laying eggs?

I would re-check their crop first thing in the morning to see if they are empty, if not, then let us know. Read the article linked below for treatment.
It would be unusual for more than one bird to have Sour Crop unless they got into something.

I have a flock of 12, and only 2 are having symptoms. The two sick ones are separated from the other ten.

so far I have only dewormed the two sick as they were the easiest. I gave them 1ml.

I don’t think there’s anything that they could of gotten into like that. But these two have always been kind of loners together.

ACV is organic Braggs. I added 1tbsp to a gallon. I usually do this once a month.

no new bedding or feed brand. I don’t think They aren’t laying yet. When I got 8 of them in October, these two sick ones were the smaller of the rest. I just assumed they were younger.

So they weigh about 4 pounds each. You're using Safeguard liquid goat wormer? Are you going to give for 5 days in a row to treat most worms or just repeat in 10 days to treat roundworms only?

I think I would give them both electrolytes, but I'm just not sure what's going on since both are symptomatic and the rest of the flock is fine.
Check them for lice/mites, it would be worth checking both for an egg as well.
Could be disease like Marek's, but again, it's strange for 2 to get sick at the same time unless they ingested something.

Ok so one has gotten a little better and is walking around. Then there is a reallllllllly sick one. Her legs are not working at all. Her legs are spread like the splits and her wings. When she eats she misses the food. Her crop was empty in the morning, felt normal.

I think she is going to pass in the next days. Today is the worst she’s been. And I read some more threads and found a link about Mareks.

And it seems she might have lead poisoning...my son shoots bbs all the time....
They’ve been vaccinated and no other chickens are showing symptoms. I would assume Mareks spreads fast?

You may be on to something about the bb's - it's called metal toxicity or Hardware disease.
If you happen to lose her, getting a necropsy through your state or doing one yourself may give you more info.

The Marek's vaccine helps to prevent the formation of tumors, but does prevent infection from the virus. Marek's can spread, but it seems to be a complicated disease. Some birds can become sick, while the rest of a flock remain asymptomatic.
