I guess what else is hard, and I never realized this until I had a baby, is that breastfeeding is NOT the norm anymore...
It's almost Taboo in a way. Why on earth would we be MADE to do this, if we werent supposed to??
I hear it all the time from the ladies at work, "Why dont you just feed her formula now, shes 3 months old, all she needed was the Colostrum".... and its all I can do not to get on my soap box and tell them all the benefits it actually has.
I'm hoping to BF for a year, but I plan to let her self wean. That is unless we go longer than a year and half I think... I think thats where I'm drawing the line.
I would LOVE to be apart of our local LLL...but I actually know the girls who run it, and to them, other than BF, I am a "mainstream" mom...and dont fit in. I guess I'm SUPPOSED to Co-Sleep in the bed (Evie sleeps in an ArmsReach Co-Sleeper), Cloth Diaper, Only eat Organic Food, Practice Eliminiation Communcation... Etc etc...and...I dont, they arent "unwelcoming", they just constantly tell me why I shouldnt do what I do...
