McDonald's Drive Thru Rant *Rawr*

Quote:
I am sorry but if I am that upset over a meal to complain I would refuse anything free. That is being bought off and invalidates a legitimate complaint, and believe me that is the way they look at it. You may get your free fries, but lose dignity in the eyes of those who serve you. And if I should go to MD(yuk) I like my burger without the Xtra special sauce.

As a one time Mc Donalds employe , I understand your frustration and it had to be horrible to wait in the heat like that, No you didnt have to pull forward , I woudnt have I would have said no Ill take my food thank you. BUT that being said ... They were probly very buesy or haveing some sort of issue. probly not there fault..What did you order. It will never cease to amaze me when people come thru a drive thru make an order and have every single item changed to the way they want it in some way then complain when it takes an extra couple minutes,. Im not saying thats the case here just tossing out an idea. When I order my son's with only ketchup and mine with no lettuce pickles or onions and my nieces no meat only cheese ect ect ect .. I expect it to take longer , also if there fries or fried food was gone or bad it take another 2-5 minutes to make freash .. I would rather wait a few minutes for fresh frie then leave right away with old ones.
Most the time when you have to wait its not some kids standing around gabbing (those this of course happens once in awhile0., its usually a bunch of people going as fast as they can to get everyones food done the way they want it as fast as they can and fresh to boot.

I manage a fast food resturant. I try my best to schedule enough staff to serve out customers and provide quality food. Not all decisions are made at store level (such as paying at one window and getting food at another) All I ask is that people consider what is going on. If I have a bus with 40 kids walk in that will slow service times.(They usually don't call ahead to tell us that they are coming) We will have to cook frys etc. The customer in drive thru may not be aware of what is going on inside. I try to tell my customers up front that they may have a wait for their food. The responses I have gotten are I don't give a ****, or my personal favorite "That's to be expected from someone who is so stupid they can only get a job in fast food. Don't get me wrong I know and have experienced poor service from fast food restaurants. However a lot of my employees are teens this is their first job, you would be surprised at the number of kids that don't even know how to sweep or mop a floor. As for spitting in someones food, I don't think any employee of mine would live long enough to be fired if I ever saw that.

Is it stealing if, when you go to the first drive through window they give you 2 of those glass coke glasses they are selling now.(we did pay for those 2) ..AND then ...by some miscommunication inside, when you go to the 2nd window they give you 2 more glasses that you didnt pay for?

I bet they did that all day long until shift change...

As a former McDonald's manager, it is STORE POLICY to pull you ahead if YOUR food is not ready. If the person behind you just ordered a coffee and you're waiting on a chicken, it makes the line go A LOT FASTER if you just pull up so OTHER PEOPLE can get their food.

That being said, chicken takes a longer time to cook than the beef or fish. Fried, it takes about 6 minutes, grilled about eight. We used to have bank employees come in and order five salads all with grilled chicken and they would usually have to wait. They did not come at regular intervals like every Friday, they would come whenever. Sometimes there would be two employees, sometimes five. If you happened to get in line right after something like that, then the employees would be waiting for the new chicken to cook.

We once had a customer refuse to move ahead, so we began to run food to the back drive thru and hand food out there.

Fast Food is a very stressful job and I have seen adults with college degrees buckle down and say "I can't do this!" In a way, I kind of miss it because I was very lean from constant moving, I gained weight when I left.

I have all sorts of stories about stupid or rude customers (or sometimes just amusing) and if people were somewhat polite things would go a lot easier. We don't run out of chicken on purpose during busy times, we just want you to get your food and move on. Only once in 6 years did I ever experience one of our employees being purposefully rude to a customer (and in my co-worker's defense, the woman was rude to her first and excessively so. The woman never complained because there were too many witnesses that saw her throw straws at my co-worker)
