McDonalds McRib - Love It, Like It, Loathe It?

What gets my goat, really gets it, is the little sign all McDonalds have to have on the wall somewhere in their restraunts- It clearly states that " The browning agents used in our recipies for various items is known to cause cancer" (I add libbed a bit since I dont know the exact wording, but I know I am very close).

So, wait a sec here- Ciggarettes are KNOWN to cause cancer, and you have to be 18 to buy them and use them. BUT, McD's can sell ANYONE, even kids who cant read the sign, food KNOWN to cause cancer??? How is that ok, or even legal?

I have to admit I bought one and took one bite and couldn't taste anything but BBQ sauce and the texture of the meat seemed rubbery then I took another bite and still couldn't taste anything but BBQ sauce and it wasn't any good tasting sauce so I gave it to my niece who swore they were to die for...I say to die of!!! I now refer to it as the McRubber!

My hubby will go there EVERY day for lunch when the McRibs are on the menu. Ewwwwwww! But he just loves them. Must be a guy thang.

And I included the link too. The bread is what was scary to me. I do eat Mcdonalds once in a great while. My niece works there and she still eats it so I figure it can't be that scary.

I haven't eaten at McDonalds in a long time, though there's one right behind where I live. I used to really love the McRib, but the last few times I've had it, I wondered why I used to like it so much. I might go get one, but it's just not as appealing as it used to be. I wonder if they've changed the recipe or something. Maybe when I was a kid, they used real sugar in their sauce and they're now using corn syrup instead.

Never tried a mcrib never will...

Now I've never once noticed a sign like that... is that something that's supposed to be displayed in a really obvious place to all consumers, or is it one of those things that only workers need to see clearly (like minimum wage stuff, workman's comp, etc)?? Now I'm really curious... I've never even heard of that before... is that a federal thing or just state by state??

And I agree about the 18 thing... if the SG ordered a warning label on EACH pack of smokes, for legal adults to be fully aware, then there dern sure should be a label on EACH item containing that browning stuff... better yet, don't sell it at all, since as you said many kids cannot read those words or even translate the legal speak and long medical terms into English.

Something funny about that getting by...

Folks
talking about a lawsuit brought in 2002 in Cali.... I'ma see if I can find more.

Ah, here's some more... http://www.dietivity.com/acrylamide-contaminated-food-the-fda-has-had-7-years-to-effectively-educate-consumers-has-it-failed/

And
from ^there... "List of Foods Containing Acrylamide:

Before you check it out, note that the EPA already regulates arcylamide in our drinking water. On its website, it states that acceptable levels of acrylamide are less than 0.5 ppb (>0.5).

As you’ll see on the FDA’s list, many foods including baby foods, are well over this amount."
