No, true Araucanas are rumpless. Ameraucanas are a completely different breed.

No ... ameraucanas are not rumpless.

Your ameraucana have beards and muffs, where araucana are tufted or clean faced.

As far as I know, no hatchery has true Araucanas. McMurray has Easter Eggers last I checked, not Araucanas or Ameraucanas. I'm sure someone has gotten EEs from McMurray. They usually send an EE male as the free "exotic" chick.
They did send me an Ameraucana as the free exotic bird, not I purchased 6 Americana chics from them a couple years ago and my girls las blue/green eggs.

McMurray? No, they don't have true Ameraucanas, though they advertise that they do. On their site, they show this terrible picture as their "Ameraucana", which has the head of an Araucana, it has ear tufts, not muffs like a true Ameraucana would have, and no beard, but has a tail. Araucanas are even more rare than Ameraucanas and are rumpless. This is not even a photo, just a cartoon drawing of sort-of Araucana. Ameraucanas have beards and ear muffs, not ear tufts like this representation. So, McMurray is still misrepresenting their stock to the public. What they sent you were Easter Eggers. I wish they'd get real and just say so.

They cover their bums by saying that they are not for exhibition.

This is a true Ameraucana. Note the huge difference in my bird and the drawing.

if it came from McMurry, all you got was Easter Eggers. No true Ameraucana will lay a green or blue/green egg. All they are capable of laying is blue.
To follow up on what @speckledhen says above about her Ameracuana... this is what a real Araucana looks like. I have a tufted rooster and a clean pullet.

@Frazzemrat1 doesn't it bug you when a hatchery as big as McMurray puts a cartoon drawing on their site to represent their stock? C'mon, that's ridiculous! I've had people steal photos of my birds, both Ameraucana and blue Orpington, over the years to advertise their stock and it makes me wonder what they're trying to hide. This seems close to that to me. If you have your own stock, why not show it?

There is one fairly big hatchery finally selling Blue Ameraucanas, Meyer. They sell EEs and Ameraucana separately, as does MyPetChicken, though I believe the latter is just a dropshipper, not a true hatchery.

It does bug me, mostly because I'm still developing what I want to do with my chickens. If I want what I want... Not that I'm planning on showing, but still. I've found I've kinda gotten protective of the whole Araucana/Ameraucana/Easter Egger thing.

I found a breeder here in town who has araucana, ameraucana and barnevelders. I ended up originally getting one of her aracuana (that's my pullet), an ee (her aracana and ameracana are mixed together) and a barnie. She outright says, this is an EE, because she's a mix... but I could have passed her off as a black ameraucana. Still lying though, and exactly what the hatcheries do. I mean, she's even going to lay blue only, since her parents only carried blue egg genes.

I'm hoping to breed my two aracuana together, and EE from the rest of my flock off that rooster, but we'll see if he can hit the mark with the bigger girls. LOL.

Just a note that Cackle Hatchery also sells pure Ameraucanas in lavender, buff, black, blue, splash, and white, and they sell EEs (olive eggers ) also, but as expected the price for Ameraucanas is quite a bit more than for EEs

I have no affiliation with Cackle other than that they are close to where I live and I have purchased Ameraucanas from them.

Yes, I remember that, forgot them. Finally, someone is listening!

Would you happen to have a picture of your araucana/ameraucana EE? That is a mix I hope to breed next year. Also, how are the temperaments and personalities of your araucanas? I only have one right now, a rooster, and I couldn't ask for a better bird. He treats his hens great and has not once shown any aggression towards anyone. Just wondering if they are mild mannered birds in general.
