McMurray Hatchery chicks

I like mine from Cackle Hatchery. I have in the past had tthem from Murray, but it has been a few years since I've gotten any from them. I do however have 1 from Murray in my flock that I got from my brother. She isn't an everyday layer right now, but then again none of my chickens are, it's cold and in the middle of winter, and I have never seen any chicken that is a great layer in the wintertime.
Right now I have 38 hens (different breeds) and I'm getting anywhere from 4 to 11 eggs a day, and this is the most that I have ever seen from chickens in the dead of winter.

ETA: Another thing about Murray though: their Americna's (Easter Eggers) are about twice the price of just about everyone else's. And time you add in shipping $$$$$.

I ordered 3 Americaunas from Ideal Poultry in August. They havn't started laying yet but they are healthy. Ideal poultry also has a $25 dollar minimum order instead of a 25 chick minimum which was better for me since I only needed a dozen chicks.

Notice the 'I' there is no 'I' in the breed name.

That's how they are not in trouble for false advertising.

they are EE's and mine lay blue eggs- if I could find my camera I'd take a picture for you.

They (Ideal spell their's Ameraucana----not with an I), and that is what they claim. They have Ameraucana's but do not have them seperated into color varieties, but they say that they are pure Ameraucana.

No matter what they call them; Ameraucanas, Americanas, Araucanas, they are ALL Easter Eggers unless the website says SPECIFICALLY PUREBRED AMERAUCANAS. I think I have only seen ONE hatchery that actually sells them.

Edited to add: This is RIGHT off the Ideal Website;
Ameraucana
Pullet
Ameraucanas, known as the "Easter Egg Breed", are a multicolored breed. They have beards, muffs and a normal tail with a tail head. They are often incorrectly called Araucanas, which have ear tuffs, are rumpless, and do not have a tail head which gives them a bunny tail appearance. Most of the chicks sold as Araucanas are really Ameraucanas, which are excellent, efficient producers of large eggs of many colors and shades including blue and green.

Standard weights at maturity are males-5 lbs. and hens-4 lbs.

Easter Eggers.

You been there and know for sure they do not have pure bred's? To be on the safe side tough I myself would call them Easter Eggers if I had their's.. Just saying, you cna't go around saying they don't have pure bred Ameraucana's if you've never been there and seen their stock.

If I had ANY that were not laying blue- I'd tell you they were mutts, they may not be mutts, just not bred to standard. (legs wrong on some, comb wrong on some, muffless, beardless, color wrong ect)

I'm a deviant under the opinion if I breed breed X to Breed X even if the chicks are fugly they are still breed X.

If I breed Breed X that once had one ancestor more then 7 generations ago, bred in to correct a leathal gene set- and I breed that one to breed X that had the same thing done once 5 generations ago - I still have 99% breed X.

:shrug I'm odd though
