I received my order of 25 Ornamental Layer chicks from McMurray
Hatchery this early Feb. Well, now it is almost June.... and the darn
critters are BANTAMS!
~ Sigh, here is where is gets ugly... I sold almost all of them as
"standard sized chickens" on craigslist for $6 each to get my cost
back.
I feel terrible. I am a first time chicken momma.... and
because I thought mine were still growing I had no clue. I recently
got 2 beautiful EE hens from a fellow BYC'er -Teacher- and she also
had bantams the same age... needless to say it is clear what had
happened. Mine were bantams.
Now, as for the poor craiglisters.... I killed my old email
so I have no way of finding them... except for one person who
has a petting zoo. She has not returned my phone calls yet(I am
guessing busy). I plan on paying each person back because it is
the right thing... just stinks that now I have to pay twice for the
wrong order.
I called McMurray with my concern..... they told me to wait
5-7 months to be sure! It is 4 months now and my chickens
are the size of mocking birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All they did
is put a "note" on my account. They said little to nothing on it.
HELP!! What do I do??? What should I do??? Anyone else ever get
the wrong order like this?
