Me too, wyandottes aren't usually on their rare breed list. Did you order any Wyandottes, any chance it's a mis-sexed bird and another one is the freebie?

That seems more likely than an SLW being considered a rare breed, but I don't think so. We ordered Barred Rocks, New Hampshire Reds and Aracaunas. This little guy stood out from the day he arrived.

I'm not complainaing about a free bird, though. If he stays as friendly and curious as he is now (at 4 months old), then he'll replace my Partridge Rock roo. The PR is just too big and aggressive for our little backyard flock. I have to stay between him and my kids when they are in the yard together.

That is odd....but I'm glad you're happy with him! They're beautiful roosters when they mature, and usually pretty easygoing.
