I'm so glad I saw this post. I ws just getting ready to put up a post myself. I have some chicks from mcmurray that I also need help with. Some look just like this one! I ordered a batch of 25 "whatevers"from them late in the season. I just wanted some company for a lonely chicke that I hatched in an incubator.

I hope you guys will be on the lookout for my post. I'm new at this, so wish me luck with the uploading of pics!

hmmmm does not look like a NHR to me....nor does it look like mr RIRs. I have no clue.

Cute thing though. Good luck solving this mystery.

Whatever it is, I think it will be really pretty when it is grown-up....I am no help here, am I!!

I love its feather coloring though.

It looks like it has a single comb from this angle.

You said that it had chipmunk stripes when it was a baby. Looking in my MM catalog the only thing that jumps out at me is the Red Cap but I've never seen one in person and the picture in the catalog is strange. However they do say it has reddish-brown feathers tipped with black spangles and I'm wondering if that is why there is black on the chest. Probably not - they seem to have a huge blobby rose comb.

I have a couple from MM that I've never figured out what they were either.

the only thing I can tell you is it is not a welsummer.

Is a "Production Red" the same thing as a RIR? If not, could it be a production red? It seems as though on a chart I saw that the PR seemed a little more on the brick or brown side compared to the RIR. Just a wild guess.
