Mealworm farming

Could we look at the horse oats again for discussion?

I have horse oats at $15 per 50 lbs, much cheaper than rolled oats. about the same as wheat bran when purchased at feed store.

If oats are both bran and the seed combined , I"m confused why it wouldn't be a good feed compared to bran or rolled oats. Could someone help me understand this?

As I understand it, I believe the size of the granule has something to do with it. Smaller = easier to eat. Perhaps, tho, as I am new to this meal worm farming thing, I spoke too soon when I encouraged oatmeal and not oats, the grain......

Not sure....maybe too hard for them to chew?
Don't think I've heard of any whole grains being used for mealworms.
Rolled oats are steamed before rolling, so softer.

I had was online that you could grid oats up to make them smaller for smaller. My whole reason for breeding them is to save money. I am looking for the cheap way possible. Because I am spending about $300 a month on mealworms.
