Mealworm farming

If the bedding feels dry and not clumping, no need to worry. You can leave the lid off. I don't use lids and have no problem. No dry ice.

Do people really buy unsalted crackers?? Just kidding

Don't think I've ever seen them. Of course I would never look for them. Mealworms taste better fed on salted crackers. 250 degrees for 7-10 minutes, directly salted with Montreal Steak seasoning works too. Ummmmm!

I am about a month into my meal worm production. I currently have 3 bins, one for larvae, one for beetles, and one for pupa. Soon, I will be adding another bin, due to the rapidity at which my larva are pupating. I understand the squeemish factor, but I do not find them that gross. I actually enjoy tending to them every day. It's like an easter egg hunt, every day I get to see how many have pupated, how many new beetles there are, and enjoy the progression. The next plan is to start a duck weed project. My goal is to become as self sufficient as possible, and to provide a deliscious and nutritious diet for my girls, without spending $50 / month on organic feed.
