Mealworm farming

I can take your already excellent idea one step further. Put a raised platform in the beetle bin, something with a flat or very slightly cupped top, then put your pupa up there on a small amount of bran, the beetles will "hatch" and will wander off the side of the platform into the beetle bin below, no pupa in with larva or beetles.

I may try that! It would eliminate a step in the process. But would the pupae tend to dry out elevated above the substrate?

@azygous and @kusanar ...hmm no tagging, chrome acting up again....
....anyway, did you see the illustration I linked? scroll down to bottom of that page.
I always thought it was the site.... But I am using chrome as well.

And then sometimes there is the double posting.

I'm a big Mozilla Firefox fan myself... not designed by an advertising/sales organization (Google Chrome)

or the major OS mega giant (Microsoft IE) and has thousands of addons to customize it to do exactly what you want it to do, rather than being set up to do what the advertising/sales giant wants it to do.

I have 2 extremely popular addons running right now; adblock plus and noscript, which block basically all ads and have it set up to not allow ANY scripts on any site/page until I go in and specifically allow each. Therefore, I only allow the scripts necessary to allow the site to work and block all other scripts for ads, tracking, etc. For example, right now I have blocked several advertising/marketing/tracking/unnecessary scripts on this site/page (8). And there's a good chance that allowing any of these scripts will automatically trigger/activate/allow several other lower scripts to run inside of those.

IE is not an OS.....lol....what OS are you running?
I used firefox for awhile years ago.

No, I know this. I was stating the browser owner and the name of the browser. Google makes Chrome. Microsoft; The MEGA manufacturer of the OS Windows, has their browser IE. And now I guess that has morphed into "Edge"... Either way, not gonna use it/them. I use MS10. And I don't really care for it. I'd move over to Linnux, but have no understanding of how to make it work for me, how to use it, or anything else about it.

Chrome always worked best for me, especially this site. IE was a disaster combined with BYC. Kids used Firefox for gaming to hide their activities from Mom. lol

My sons mealworms are still kicking after months of neglect. TOok pity on the survivors and added apple slices. Tossed a number of dead beetle to chooks and they just looked at them....babies.....they needed advice from the elders so released the 5 year chooks who swooped in to gooble the beetles up.

Got suckered into 10 huh......I have successfully resisted, still using 7.
Chrome has worked fine for me, and still does most the time, IE and BYC didn't go well here either.

I was most happy with windows XP pro. It was the best OS I ever used. I tried the upgrade to 7 when support for xp ended. It was a complete nightmare for me. It was touted as the best and most stable of any iteration of windows, but it was horrible to me. Constant blue screens and lock ups. So when the free upgrade to 10 came along it was like "what do I have to lose at this point" and it does at least work, though I find it to be NOT very user friendly (for this user). My previous system died and when I bought the present one, 10 was all I could get. I also dislike the loss of privacy and automatic tracking and everything that goes along with that. I'm sure by the time we get to windows 12 it will be automatically wiping our butts for us (if we'll let it) as well as telling us what we think...
