Mealworms farming

Pics
Lovemealworms, I have had my beetles the for weeks now and I do not see any worms...Am I doing something wrong? When I open my drawer, I hear this noise that I can't explain.... They are so busy, I have given them Carrots and apple, they love both...
I'm thinking that I'm going to order some more worms because my hens haven’t had worms for a while....

Lucky you, Granny!! Here in Hilo, the humidity is almost always 100%.  ugh.  And welcome Rachelsflock!  I welcome any advice!  And of course, as always, lovemealworms is our go-to information source, and had singlehandedly saved my mealworm farm!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  And Aloha Bridebeliever!  to me, it isn't THAT easy, as you can see from all the questions, but I think once we really get it down, it won't be hard.  They are super expensive here, too, and we only have one, and sometimes two, places that sells them.  So once they're sold out, that's it.  That's why I wanted to raise them. Now I want to see some, too, if I can get my farm rolling and reproducing!

We are lucky to not have any humidity, I hate humidity... we are very dry up here and I love it.... the cold doesn't feel as cold and the heat doesn't feel as hot.... We put a weather vein in our hen house so we could watch the temperature in there... So far it has been really good. ..

Yes, its so very humid here. The cold is really wet, and the heat is always heavy and sticky. I know when people think of Hawaii, they think all balmy skies and tropical breezes, but its not like that on the Hilo side of the Big Island. Kona side (about 100 miles away) is hotter and drier, but it's still humid, too. Not always good for animals, the humidity, where sometimes its hard to just keep them dry! We have been getting a phenomenal amount of rain this month. November and April are typically our rainiest months, but it's been just crazy here! Rain blowing in every direction, at about 6" or more a day. But the good news is, all the hurricanes this season (9, I think?) just missed us by a hair! Whew! I'm most worried about my henhouse roof!! lol

Oh my goodness!! I went in to check on my mealworms and I found a worm in with my beetles, so I picked it out and put it in with my other worms...Maybe tomorrow I'll see more worms...

Yay you! They must be hatching! How exciting!! I just (finally) had a chance to work on my mealworms this weekend. I did the 6 drawer method that Lovemealworms recommended. I had them in just two drawers, and I think I had so many (1000's) it looks like they overheated? They were turning black and dying. So this weekend, we got some repurposed drawers that my daughter used to use for art supplies, cleaned them out, added new bran, and got to work! It took me and my son about 5 hours (for real) to separate the beetles, pupae, and worms. Hopefully, now that I have a method that actually makes sense, I will get lots, LOT's more, so I can sell some to make extra money. Wish me luck!

How on earth would I get those tiny worms out of the drawer with all those beetles? I was just lucky with the one last night because it was crawling up the side of the drawer....Rae

Hi Rae, I know its challenging. But instead of searching for all those tiny worms, why not take out the beetles? If you get worms like I did, they may be in the hundreds!! In the meantime, my worms are starting to die! I'm freaking out, just when I had them going pretty good. I think maybe it's too cold? I mean, I do live in Hawaii, but we just had a cold front come through, and it gets down to about 60 (in the garage) right now. Yikes!
