Since there is a shortage of mealworms in the US (why, I don't know), will chickens eat freeze dried mealworms?

there was a post about how to raise meal worms yourself.
i'll have to look that backu up too, as my chickens love them!

If you do not have any other stores around you that would carry it then you could offer it to them and see if they would take it. My chickens won't eat bugs unless they twitch. You could also order at a different site or you can grow your own mealworms if you are not squeamish about it. A shortage of mealworms at a particular store would just mean they did not plan their breeding effectively from the beetles or something drastic happened to their stock. They are not the only provider to pet stores. Most of our stores except Petco grow their own mealworms.

Get several of the beetles and put them in a small covered box with bran or cream of wheat at the bottom, a few slices of potato and an egg carton tipped upside down. I put in a moistened paper towel every day and let them alone. They will do their thing quite nicely

Wormman.com is also not taking orders because of a nationwide shortage!

Are mealworms made of petroleum?! When did they become a rare commodity?
