Sorry, but I don't know where else to post this.

We just received 3 Cinnamon Queen laying hens, and they are laying a medium sized brown egg a day.

My wife hard boiled one and took it to work for lunch, but said she could not eat it, as the texture was very mealy. She was afraid she had overboiled it, but she loves eggs, so for her not to be able to finish it...well, I'm worried.

Any idea what may be causing this? Should I be concerned?

No, they lay during the day, and it's been in the 50s and 60s here.

At night, possibly, but we never find eggs til noon.

You'd know it if you ate it.

Instead of having a nice firm, smooth white, the white texture was grainy. The yolk was fine.

A little like cottage cheese - yuck.

I hope so, too.

My wife loves hard boiled eggs, and it's almost inconceivable that she didn't like it. It must have been awful!

You need to ask a smart kid that one! Try Warsawffagurl she is very smart on animals! If she does not know she is compelled to find the answer for you. My only theory is one in a million that the egg was stuck at just the right spot so as the shell deposits were mixed with the egg white: would likely have been missing a membrane though. Ask Jenn!
