Yesterday my Buff Brahma Bantam attacked her almost 2 week old chick. She hatched this chick out but I noticed that whenever the baby would start peeping she would freak out and act like her baby was a predator. For the most part she was a really good momma except when baby started peeping from being scared or whatever. Yesterday I went out to check on everyone and the baby was basically laying flat and I could see that it was missing feathers by the wing and on the back (no blood). It's little feathers were all disheveled and it's wings spread straight out. I immediately scooped the baby up and brought it inside thinking that it was going to die but didn't have the heart to kill it. It has since started standing up but only opens its eyes occasionally and only part way. It will walk but is very wobbly. I have been giving it sugar water and it won't eat. Did momma do some major damage to this baby or do you think that it will come around?
No more babies for her, EVER!!!
