Mean Rooster when mating

I just re-introduced "King Rooster" (my kid named him) to the female coop. He has been very much a gentleman after being in the bachelor pad for the last 2 weeks. Much better than last time he was "attempting" to mate

let's hope he behaves, though sometimes it can take repeated jailing, so be prepared to round him up again if he becomes a pain again. He's very pretty.

This thread makes me think of the expression on my wife's face when she saw this the first time and thought it was barbaric and I kind of laughed. I thought I was going to end up sleeping in the coop that night. I've been seeing how some of the pullets now do just lay down and it's quick and he moves on. The ones that aren't laying yet seem to have the biggest issue with it and sounds like bloody murder.
