Love raising the Mearns Quail. I have found out for the first 22 days of incubation they need a pretty dry humidity about 33 percent. The last few days I bump it up to about 50 percent.
After hatching I had no problem with them eating right away. I use 30 percent Mazuri ground up along with Growgel and clean water with vitamins added to it. For myself it takes about 7 weeks before I can sex . With the males you will see black feathers forming where their legs meet their body. Shorty after you will start seeing their chest feathers coming out. In my experience this breed has been the most docile quail I have raised. I do or have raised every species of North American Quail. Just some of my thoughts.
