What are some good breeds and breeds to cross for meat, meat meaning chickens that give a 8-10 pound dressed carcass not feed efficiency and growth rate.

For a chicken to be that large dressed, would mean a very large, slow growing breed and by the time most got to weight, it would be extraordinarily tough, good for wet method cooking only.
You could try Breese, brahma, beliefelder, cornish roaster, Delaware broiler or good old jumbo cornish x.
But none will be as big as you want, have you considered turkeys?

I get Cornish cross that are 15 pounds dressed and are nice and tender, and they take no more then 6 months to grow.
