I have meat chickens. (Red rangers) Some have symptoms of a respiratory infection. Not sure where it came from. I know how to treat it, but being that they are meat birds that are 13 weeks old and we are 3 weeks from processing, i am not sure what to do. I don't want antibiotocs in our meat. Any suggestions? How to handle, how treating would affect the meat, and if i treat how long to wait before culling?

Are they able to function without treatment?

Do your research, but if you are dealing with Mycoplasma, then you could treat symptoms with Tylosin. Looks like there's a 24hr withdrawal period after the last treatment.

Another option would be to go ahead and process early if they are not doing so well.
They are functioning, eating, drinking, and moving. They just sound like they have a mucus cough or sneeze.

They have plenty of ventilation. They are out in a large fenced area in the day time and a coop at night. I am not sure what is going on. T
