I had a black swede (RIP) and it was a female. Didn't sound like that. That sounds like a male to me.. but I am by far no expert. I thought for the last nine months that I had two female geese that were inseperable.. Till one mounted the other.. so what do I know..lol

LOL. well honestly .... i think its a boy!!

so im just gonna be hopeful!

Do you have any good pics of the Swede's tail? A boy should have a curly feather over the tail. A girl should have a tail just like your Pekin.

She looks fine, BTW. Pekins are a heavy weight, while Swedes belong in the middle weight class, so your Pekin SHOULD be that much bigger than her pal.

this is klutzy! lol he/she doesnt have the curly tail but orange feet and a olive green bill... which i thought males had...

Definitely female, though she has a low voice. The males are low, but quiet and raspy. You can contrast the two here: http://www.majesticwaterfowl.org/artquacks.htm Also, if they're laying eggs and are the same age, she'd have curly feathers by now if she were a he. But now you can get that runner male!

I am not one to oh and aww about ducks but those two runners look good to me! And to answer the original question the Pekin is chubby but they were bred to be heavy ducks and she is growing according to her genes.
