You
know what comes cheaper than both? A gal on Craigslist has 10 Barred Rock roosters up for free - organic! I may pick em up if they're still available. Either way - I've got reading to do with that link I posted.

TY!

LOL YEAH THEY'RE PROBABLY 3 YRS OLD AND BE LIKE CHEWIN ON A PIECE OF MICHELIN TIRE

I have 12 adult bobwhite quail, and we incubated about 140 of the eggs. Well, we have about 30 live ones! 5 have been transferred to the quail house, but have another 8 ready to go out there, then 12 more new hatches! And the last 12 should hatch today! I have had many hatches, but they don't all survive. I think at first it was a humidity and temp issue...then we had some that were just not strong enough. And a lot of eggs that just never hatched.

So my question is should we take the adults out and eat them? And what age do you do that? I don't know what I am going to do with all of them...I know it will be crowded in the house for them, and we are going to get a bigger run started soon...but for right now???

The adults seem to accept the younger ones no problems with that. And they are still laying eggs, so we have been eating them ( I got tired of dealing with the incubators).

Should I sell some of the babies? and where would I do that, here or craigslist? I really would like to release them but can't.

Looking for the best option... open to opinions!

Hey GeeJay
Check local laws before sellin bobs, you'll likely need a permit... I think soon you may find the adults not play'n well with youngsters... Just keep an eye on them...bobs ,as you know by now, are nasty mean!!! Good luck, Bill

hey fat Daddy,

You are right I need a permit-I know that already...have the paper work to get turned in. The guy we got them from didn't tell us that, so ?? But plan to get it done right!

And so far our Bobs are not nasty-at least not that I have seen. Out of all the hatches, only one toe picker- that one is gone! And they are not aggressive to me either, but to one and other? don't know for sure!

Thanks for you input!
