Meat vs pet

Thank-you for input/s. We will keep Pecker as part of our pet flock. If/when her quality of life is poor because of her size, we will cull (not eat). In the future we will be prepared with a separate coop for meat birds. It's too easy to become attached when they are raised with the pets.
 
torterri, limited feed, lots of exercise, and lots of water might keep it around for a few years. They're similar to a CX in that sense. There's a good chance that your bird will someday just seem a little lethargic sometime and you'll just give it a day or two to see if it gets better and you'll wake up the next day and it'll be gone. That's what's happened to all the CXs I've owned.
