Hello All,

I am two weeks into raising some Ross meat chickens. We have 28 of them to start with. My question is regarding feeding. I have their light on a timer that gives them 8 hours of night, no windows so it's black in there.

Should I still remove the food from the brooder or is lights out enough to stop these monsters from eating?

What a different experience this has been from raising my 4 hens. Eye opener for sure.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Actually, just take their food away and they will be fine. Are you taking the heat away at night too, or is your heat source seperate from your light source? Don't take away their food until they are two weeks old, and they should have heat 24/7 until they are feathered out.

Thank you for your reply.

The light and heat are seperate. We wanted to have as much control as possible. They have heat 24/7 and will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. They have no light for 8 hours at night.

Will they still eat in the dark?
