I have several things on hand... electrolyte, B12 solution, Coccidiosis treatment, permethrin powder, Elector PSP on order, Vetericyn antimicrobial spray, and a few other things I cannot remember.

I am wondering what all people keep in their med kit for pests/injury/illness? What are the critical things that you feel need to be on hand so you don't have to wait to get something?

I know I wouldn't be able to cover everything, but I'd like to have things (if possible) for the most detrimental of incidents should they arise, or most common.

I have supplements to prevent mite problems. Some herbal powder to mix in the feed and a liquid to add to the water.
And diatomaceous earth for the sand bath and the inside of the coop (with water used as paint )

If needed I make electrolytes myself.
Pain med can be some-kind of aspirin I keep on hand anyway.
The same with vaseline if I ever discover SLM (leg mites) and antimicrobial spray if they have a wound.

I bought a small spray bottle with permethrin once when I needed a quick fix with red mites. I still have half the bottle.

Because my chickens free range a few hours almost every day, they are quite healthy and can search herbs for self medication. Never needed/used any serious medication.

I have poultry cell and hydro hen on hand for when I need it during hot weather, sick chicken, and general chick care. I also have vet wrap in case I need it for my chickens or my dog as it works well for the both of them. Gauze is always good to have to put under the vet wrap. I also have VetRX on hand too which has proven useful given the various applications of it.

Some excellent recommendations. Thank you. I see I need to get a shopping list together. I forgot that I keep Calcium tablets on hand also. And a tub that I can use for soaking, with a bag of epsom salts and some KY jelly stored in it.

BDutch, what kind of herbal powder mix do you use? Is it a blend you make? Or do you purchase something? I'm all for prevention. While making the new coop, I have gone through 2 cases of caulk. I would love to have something for the girls to help with that.

The herbal powder goes by the name Finecto+ and is sold in the Netherlands. I believe they have similar herbal mixes in other European countries (other tm).

Farmers use Finecto+ or similar herbal mixes often in combination with DE, since all poisonous treatments are forbidden in my country.

Finecto+

Ingredients
Echinacea
Astragalus
Uncaria
Gentiana
Thymus
Citronellol
Citronellal
Calciumcarbonaat
Maltodextrine
Sepioliet
Natriumchloride

Thank you for the info. I'll look for similar here.
I had to scramble for antibiotics which sucked. Tylosin and/or doxycycline.
Good thought. Especially since I am looking for a new chicken vet.

Vaseline (unscented petroleum jelly.) I use it periodically to ward off scaly leg mites. I also put dab on my thumb & forefinger and massage my roosters' combs and wattles. It's very calming for them and keeps them used to being handled. It's also good in the winter to help ward off frostbite.

Also keep a couple of empty eyedroppers and a plastic syringe or two without the needle points. They are invaluable for laying medicine, electrolytes or plain sugar-water alongside a sick or weak chicken's beak. They'll swallow reflexively without danger of aspirating and/or drowning.
