My chicks have been vacinnated and are currently on non medicated chick starter.I was wondering what would happen if i were to switch them to medicated.Non medicated is so hard to find where i am ( though i will still buy it if necissary) and i was wondering if givining them medicated would be okay. What effects could it have on them?

It will have no discernable effect on them but it might prevent them from being infected with Coccidiosis.

I really doubt you will be able to tell a difference. I started my last batch on non medicated but switched to medicated turkey starter when I lost 2. I fed it for 3 weeks and then switched back to regular nonmedicated chick starter. They are now 9 weeks and I have not lost anymore.

I plan on starting them all off on the turkey starter and switching when they are a few weeks old.

Thanks guys.IU just wasn't sure because i've been told its one or the other, you either have them vaccinated and feed them non med, or you don't have them vaccinated and feed them med, thanks.

You had them vaccinated for coccidiosis correct?
Feeding them medicated starter will null and void the vaccine, but it won't harm the chicks. They'll just get coccidia protection from the feed.
