Medicating with a dropper?

Update:

Sneezy Hen has shown little improvement after 6 days of Sulmet and yogurt (along with her regular food, water, etc). I've actually had great luck prying open her beak as described by Sonoran Silkies so I know she IS actually getting the meds.... but she still sneezes, coughs, and swallows a lot. Sometimes she is so boogery that I have to wash her face and beak with saline. There has also been some head/face swelling.... but it varies from day to day.

Is this just a matter of being patient? the Sulmet bottle says it should work fast.... ! Why am I not seeing results?

She's still isolated (and NOT happy about). I've been feeding her watermelon to help with water intake and vitamins.

For respiratory issues I use Tylan soluble. If you can't find it at the feed store (not the injectable kind unless you want to inject a lot of chickens) go to firststatevetsupply.com They ship really fast and I wouldn't be without it. A container lasts forever and my other chicken moms know that I have it if anyone needs it.

Mix 1/2 teaspoon Tylan with 1/2 gallon of water. Put it in their regular waterer and make sure this is the only source of water they have for 7 days. Tylan is difficult to mix. I put the measured amount of Tylan in a small jar AND THEN add some water. Put the cap on and shake very well and add it to the remaining water. If you add the Tylan to the water you just get Tylan blobs. Go figure.

You can PM me if you have any more questions but I can tell you this is a great product. Also, my chickens will not eat yogurt either. I have to mix it with Cheerios and then they go hog wild. Its like hiding the medicine in a spoonful of sugar.
