Agree, don't take another decongestant if you are taking zyrtec D. Or if the cold medicine also contains an antihistimine. Zyrtex is an antihistimine. Zyrtec D has both an antihistimne and a decongestant. Do not take two antihistimines or two decongestants unless that is a doctor's order. Other types of cold meds that can help are an expectorant (guifenesin is hte most common) and possibly an analgesic such as ibuprofen.

You can usually take one of each of these types of medicines, but not more than one of each type. Read package labels carefully to see what meds each includes.
