Holding the joint in a more natural angle is definitely something I would do. There are some nice splints for poultry being 3D printed, for example:

We got the duck boots today. Been very stressful. I can't get the flipper into any normal position. So I tryed it on backward to see if Webby could stand better but all she did was keep her leg kicked out behind her, so I fastened it to her normal leg and she kept both legs out behind her. I made a little sling so she could stand but the sling was incorrect (my bad) and acted like a diaper..and I noticed no poops..so I took it all off and let her have a warm bath, she warm and cozy now. I talked with Grounders vet and she said to add some poultry cell, so she has been getting that now for a day. She did go outside for a few yesterday and zoomed around the grass with her gimpy foot. I guess I could have it amputated but it seems to bother me more then it bothers her...and then what a duck with one foot..its not like a guinea with one eyeHolding the joint in a more natural angle is definitely something I would do. You might try posting on the diseases and emergencies forum, or the duck forum. Depending on what’s going on with her joint, you may need to more slowly get it back to the right position, but you have a better chance of doing that now while she’s growing. What does she do with the door in water? What kind of duck is she? Is a vet an option? We got the duck boots today. Been very stressful. I can't get the flipper into any normal position. I'm so sorry - you seemed so optimistic. Was she no longer able to get around on it or did something else go wrong?Waddle around sweet Webby, today we put her to sleep. Our hearts are broken ..she was the sweetest little bird..

She just couldn't walk, as she got older she was becoming frustrated with herself and believe her little leg had some pain. What Webby taught me, was ducks are amazing and so very sweet.I'm so sorry - you seemed so optimistic. Was she no longer able to get around on it or did something else go wrong?![]()
