Well, the difference is.. mine have never had to deal with a rooster.. so they are older ladies who are used to a very kind and gentle “rooster”.. me! So they are not too happy with this situation! Or his sneak attacks!

I know it's frustrating, but give it time. Generally, the older girls will gang up and teach manners.

I’d like some advice... do I keep him or rehome? Claire won’t even go in the coop at night ... I had to catch her and put her in.. I think she is trying to stay away! And none of them look too happy about him.. even the ones that ultimately give in... I’m wondering if it’s just too stressful on them? Plus, didn’t some of you say that they are very uncomfortable or even in pain when they are molting? And now they are having to endure his attacks .... One minute I think things are going good then the next he’s chasing them like a maniac! All of this may be completely normal... but it’s not normal for my flock!

I just saw this, things are a little out of order on my phone, which is weird! I can imagine that having a rooster all of a sudden could be hard on your older girls. I would think that they will all get it figured out eventually, but only you can tell if it's worth it or not! I don't like it when my girls are stressed out either & it's not fun if it stresses you out!

Haha! He does doesn’t he!? Actually I believe he has conquered Ruby! But I think he is really stressing out Sunny and Claire (yes, that’s a spoof) .... they are molting too... he is really chasing them down and poor Claire runs a SCREAMS for her life!! So he and I had it out this morning .... not sure if that’s what you’re supposed to do but that’s what I do! Cuz I DO NOT like him stressing them out!! If that's the case.. then I don’t want a rooster!!

Where is your video of you instructing him in proper rooster behavior? That is something I would have liked to see!

I would suggest you get @Shadrach to advise on how to train a rooster. Trump does not have an older roster to teach him. Shad posted some links in my thread to help as he was certain I would wind up keeping Ned. If I can find them I will link them here. Don't give up on Trump until you engage the expert. It may wind up being more than to want to take on but make that decision with full knowledge of what needs done.

The simplest thing in the short term is to separate him until you get advice and make a decision. Yes, when they molt it is uncomfortable and broken pin feathers can bleed badly.

Thanks! Some of them have been doing that but I guess he’s persistent... and like I said... one minute nice and the next bad .... so when things are going smoothly then I’m okay about waiting it out...

Yea.. I’ll just play it by ear and see how things progress... if I just can’t stand it then he’ll have to go

That's totally understandable...when you're used to having a calm & peaceful flock an occasionally unruly boy can definitely make things uncomfortable!

Okay... thank you so much! And that’s a good idea... I was considering separating him if I think things are really bad!
