Hi guys. I posted around this time last year, looking into breeds/genders for my flock. Sadly we lost them all before christmas 2024. My girls weren't even 1 yet.:hit

ANYWHO that broke my heart, so i went and spent 5 hours driving from town to town until i found the ones i liked. These precious birds have really been my Joy. They arent as friendly as i usually have them at this age, but to be fair i can't spend nearly as much time with them as i used to,**Forewarning there are TWELVE birds in my brooder, so there are going to be 12 separate birds here**

Date of purchase: Bantams - 4/7/25 all others 4/3/25 so i know its gonna still take a few more weeks unless its REALL obvious

I have some SUSPICIOUS little ones in the group... First off Im worried about the breeds i received for the first two. The sign said Silver Laced Cochins.... These are DEFINITELY NOT silver laced. Not laced at ALL. Im thinking Lavender Cochins most likely as they have this gorgeous purple tint. One of them is almost CERTAINLY a rooster. Its very protective of Our White OEGB (snowball) who i cant separate into another group, as she will NOT tolerate it. Has to have her Big Buddy to hide under.
These Two Will Be Labeled "1 LC" and "2 LC" they do not have names yet.

SO thats the Family! Drop Name suggestions and gender ideas!! Give me facts or fun details about the breeds! I want to learn about how people have done with these breeds in their group.

Your “M” chick looks like a golden laced Wyandotte with a non-standard comb. They should have a rose comb but some hatchery stock ends up with single combs. I think she’s a pullet. . I can’t tell on the others as I’m not familiar with the breeds.

1lc looks like a rooster, 2lc pullet
The three olive eggers could go either way but I’m leaning towards cockerels
Mystery chicken I think is a gold laced Wyandotte pullet
Jersey giant not sure, leaning pullet
B looks like a pullet
Snowball looks like a pullet
Of the bearded bunch only 1U looks like a rooster

Ooh, I got this! I am almost 99% sure I know every breed and gender here. Also, SO cute. I'm going to suggest names too.

1 LC - Male. Either Splash or Lavender Cochin. If they have darker flecks, they're splash.
2 LC - Female, breed same as above. I'd call her Dove, probably. She just looks like one, with those gray feathers.

1 SO - Female, they're Sapphire Olive Eggers. You could give the trio blueish gem names, like Sapphire, Opal, and Amethyst.
2 SO - Female, Sapphire OE
3 SO - Female, Sapphire OE

1 GLC - Female and so stinking cute. She's a Gold Laced Cochin. I'd give her a special name, she reminds me of a little butterfly with those laced feathers. I'd probably name her Bug or something stupid if she was mine, the cutest ones get the dumbest names.

1 BCM - Female Black Copper Marans. Big gal!

1 B - Female Buckeye. I like Buck even for a girl, actually.

1 OEGB - Female, Snowball looks like a menace to society.

1 DU - Male Mille Fleur d'Uccle
2 DU - Female Mille Fleur d'Uccle
3 DU - Female Mille Fleur d'Uccle
(I'd name the d'Uccle girl pair Sugar and Spice. I love food names.)
