Meet the 10 newest additions to my flock. We recently moved, and the people who lived in the house before us could not take their chickens with them so now I'm taking care of them. I need ideas on breed and names (I've got ideas on breed for most of them, but some I'm still not sure).

1. This one I thought was a Rhode Island Red
LL

2. This one I'm not sure about. I was thinking White Orpington or White leghorn?
LL

3. This one Looks like a White Orpington.
LL

4. This one is for sure a Turken.
LL

5. This one is probably the same as the other with roo, but I'm not sure which.
LL

6. This one is for sure a bantam but I'm not I'm not sure what kind. Any ideas.

7. At first I thought this was a golden campine but after re-looking it I'm think golden penciled hamburg. What do you think?
LL

And last, the three mutts. Sweety, Cupcake, and peach.
LL

Them with their mom.

They sure are cute!! I think the first one is probably some production red type of hen. And the roosters maybe they are some production breed or leghorns too. I don't know for sure but I thought orps were more "puffy". Either way, nice flock!

#2 one looks like a leghorn

#3 one looks like a leghorn also (White Orpingtons look a little fluffier and rounder)

#5 looks like he has some yellow in his feathers, or is it just the picture?

#7 Probably is a golden penciled hamburg

Not sure about the rest of them, and I could be wrong about the others. I just named the breeds that came into mind when I saw the pictures.

Okay. Yes he does have some yellow in his feathers. I was think leghorn at first too, but one of the girls (the white one) is really fluffy and looks like an orpington. So I thought that maybe they were orpingtons too. Thx, I think I have ideas for names. I've decided on Arizona and Miami for the two boys. Now I need to find names for the rest....

Nice looking set of birds you have there! :D

As far as breeds, this is my guess:
1. looks like a production red.
2. and 3. look more like white Plymouth Rocks to me than white Leghorns, just because they are a bit fluffier than Leghorns usually are. Your first egg from the hen should tell you, though. If it's white, they're Leghorns, if it's brown, they're Rocks.
4. Can't mistake a turken.
5. is probably the same as 2. and 3.
6. I'm not sure, but she looks kinda leggy. Maybe a game breed or a light brown Leghorn?
7. would have to be a Campine. Hamburgs have rose combs, not single combs. ;)

I'd suggest posting this over at the What Breed/Gender board. Those folks usually know what they're talking about.

I have 3 PRs that look like OP's bird, maybe just a little darker, just like I have several red sexlinks from the same source with varying depths to their redness and 3 hatchery-quality GL Wyandottes that are all a different shade of 'gold'. I figure all breeds (especially hatchery quality) will have varying shades of the color they're supposed to be, so production red shouldn't be ruled out solely because of that.
