...that's the logic I'm hoping for!

I also found it handy to introduce them by free ranging at the same time. I got my dog out too and started playing with him so his 'madness' was a slightly scary distraction that made the girls flock together for "safety".

All he's ever eat from them is their eggs and poo though!

I did the free ranging this weekend on Sat and Sun....the little girl is a brave little thing...she hangs out with the big girls more than my other "small pullet" that is actually bigger than her. The little girl is only pecked by the "boss" hen now and only if she gets too close! lol.....so, so far so good...

The dogs thing....I can't do that yet...My lab is good, but my sheperd/hound mix..as soon as the chickens start going crazy she thinks they want to play with her and start chasing them! lol...so that wouldn't work!

So far seem to have worked much better than my prev introduction (my 1st time

) before I used the same cage and I would put the new girl in to roost at night and take her out in the morn....That poor birb is bigger than the pullet on these pics...yet she is always "solo". The pullet on this pic( I gotta name her still) was out in the run eatting with the big girls this am, no fuzz, no problems....well until the boss decided she had enough food and sent her on her way! lol

Introduce him to a mean/protective hen (or roo), then he's never go after them again! I love my RIR Milly for that

Also I'll tackle my dog if he goes too mad around the chickens, he's still at teenage stage and he does crazy laps of the garden for no reason and because he's 40 kilos he would crush one of them if they got in his way! Doesn't listen so I tackle him to the ground. I never smack him, just yell/growl then push him to the ground if he's really naughty or ignoring me, tackling gets him to the ground fast
