Melanistic Pheasants-stupid question

Silly question, but why do they look different? Are they different varieties of melanistic pheasant or is one not really melanistic?

Silly question, but why do they look different? Are they different varieties of melanistic pheasant or is one not really melanistic?

The first one is a 'green' melanistic, the second is also considered a 'green' melanistic but has more of the common ringnecked genes showing in it's phenotype.
