Members not getting email subscription notifications - please read and reply with details

I am not getting email updates. I have not changed anything on my profile.

It seems sporadic. I'll get some then it will quit again.

Clare, that's exactly what happens with mine. Which is why I don't think the problem is on my end. Everything is fine for a couple of days, then nothing for a day, then everything comes back just fine, then nothing again. It's been like that since the conversion. What's wierd is that when I'm not receiving subscription emails, the PM notification emails seem to still come thru.
I've just gotten to the point where I just automatically go to "Subscription" to see the recent activity if I'm not receiving emails, because I'm not sure if it's because of lack of thread activity, or no emails.

I stopped getting e-mails again a couple weeks ago. I have done everthing suggested. I have added several alias's to my hotmail account since the first of the year and it will work for a while then it stops. BYC is on my list of safe senders.

Jean, I use hotmail as well. I don't think the problem is with hotmail.

This is what I do - never know when notifications is working-think they still have problem since the conversion

Thanks for the posts. There are actually a LOT of things that might contribute to emails not getting to a member, and the problem with one may not be the problem with another... for example, here are a few cases we're dealing with right now:

  1. Some members have clicked the "unsubscribe from all" button and don't know that their settings are now such that they won't get any emails from BYC
  2. Some email providers are "throttling" emails from BYC and other sites. This has been reported with Comcast, AOL, RoadRunner, and others
  3. The system that sends out emails and that updates the activity feed has been getting stuck from time to time. We think this is due to super long threads and we're working on getting that fixed.

So, we wish there was a single one-fix-fits-all answer, but it really does come down to a ton of variables and potential problems. We keep working on everything that relates to our side, but after the email leaves our server there isn't a ton more we can do.

I can eliminate options 1 and 2 from my problems.

Nifty, I appreciate your recognizing that many are still having problems, and that you are staying on top of this.

Here's an explanation of throttling:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth_throttling

Probably everyone gets emails they don't want. I use Yahoo or Gmail (free) and both have good spam filtering, which puts emails like this in a separate folder. You can delete them all at once without opening them if you wish, or the service usually deletes them automatically after a certain length of time if you ignore them. Once in a while an email I want gets put in the spam folder, but it's easy enough to move it into my regular inbox.

None of which helps you with your problem, I realize.
