I have a chick that pipped around 230 this morning. So it's been about 13 hours. I am not so much worried about the length of time more so that the hole around where it's pipped is brown. It is making chewing movements with its mouth. It looks like it's chattering. Should I be helping or is this still ok? Thank you!

If it’s chewing it’s still absorbing
If humidity is 65-70 range then it should be fine
I would coat that are as you could end up getting fluid in it’s beak

Yes I did read that the chewing meant they were absorbing.

Sorry I shouldn't coat the area so I don't get liquid in his beak?

Thank you for the response.
