A few of my MANY losses over the years :(
They’re all flying up high with the angels now :hugs

Mille the rabbit, and Buddy the Mille fluer D’Uccle:
The best of pals they were. Very sweet towards one another. Millie passed of uterine cancer in 2018. Buddy left me earlier in 2018. They were absolute sweethearts that are being missed dearly.

Cowboy:
Cowboy wasn’t the most docile of roosters. He wasn’t aggressive, just a bit flighty. He passed early December 2018 of an unknown respiratory illness.

Griffin:
Griffin was beautiful inside and out. He was stuck-up at times; but he truly had a heart of gold. He passed mid-December 2018. RIP my sweet blue-eyed boy!

Coco:
Here come the waterworks :hit Coco was so very friendly. She was always barking for attention. She had the sweetest of personalities and expressions. She was my bestie who was there for me when I needed her the most. She passed Dec. 13, 2018 due to consumption of my neighbor’s rat poisoning. She didn’t deserve to go the way she did. But where there’s rainbows there’s rain.

I'm so sorry to hear of Millie, buddy, cowboy,Griffen and Coco passing I'm so very sorry:hugs:hugs:hugs.
May they RIP.

I’m so sorry for ALL of your losses. I don’t have any chickens, but my 2 guinea pigs, Sweetie and Oreo. Orea passed away peacefully on the morning of January 26th, 2018.
Sweetie passed May 18th 2018 from a heat stroke, and I blame myself for exposing her to the heat, and will not forgive myself ever for her death :(
Losing a pet is really hard, even sometimes if it’s a fish. Yeah, in August we got 4 goldfish and we even named them :lau
One of them passed away when we were away in November. I did shed a tear or two an was a bit disappointed, but life goes on...
thank y’all for sharing your stories!! And thanks Clubber for tagging me :)
That's fine glad I made this thread!!

This happened less than a year ago in 2018, one of my original ducks, Custard, went missing. I’m assuming she wandered off and was picked up by a predator, but I still shed a few tears thinking about it. I miss her so much. I love you my beautiful little snowy mallard.

Best of Breed Cock 20150418.jpg
I sent this a couple of days ago to my best chicken-raising friend.
"I was feeling sad because today I lost one of my very old roos, 13 years old. He is one of the set of eight chickens I hatched from my best roo and two hens years ago. These eight, 4 roos, 4 hens, were the foundation of my F2 flock, which I split half-and-half with Jeannette (Beranger, of the Livestock Conservancy Crevecoeur Preservation project). He seemed fine yesterday, but was lying on the ground when I went out there this morning and did not get up for feed. I couldn't see anything wrong with him, but he died in my arms a couple hours later. I guess at 13 for a chicken, he might have died of "old age."

And then a couple hours later I was copied on emails between my husband's cousins. One lost her grown daughter last November, the other lost her mother about a month ago. So, okay, maybe I am being too sentimental about a chicken. But I know you understand!"

And I guess you all understand, too. Chickens have such a short life, anyway, but the good they do for humankind is way out of proportion bigger than anything we can do for them. So, I pull a few of those early spring greens for my chickens, and thank God for giving us food for our tables and companions for ourselves all in the same wonderful package!

Well, I do have something to say now.

This is a little chick I lost 3 weeks ago. She had no name because it was when I first got them. She was about three days old. She died from some unknown sickness.
