OK, well...hopefully someone else will use this thread again..it's turning into a sort of a personal graveyard...
RIP, Checker. Our senior (Barred Cochin) roo, seven years old. Self-appointed protector of ALL hens with chicks or recently fledged babies. Sweet, intelligent, and gentle. Killed by a possum in our barn, last Friday, March 4. With him went one of the pullets he self-appointed to protect.
We miss him very much.
When I find a picture of him I will post it.
